Some fantastic diving right on the house reef. A highly recommended place to visit. We were absolutely knackered after the long flights, the van ride, and then a boat trip. There was a thunder storm the night before I took this shot, I can only remember a handful of times elsewhere hearing thunder that loud and watching lightning reflect off the water, totally wicked!!

The sunset the next morning was magnificent. Took about 30 shots before it got too bright. The water was so still it didn't even look real. No photoshop here.

Diving on the house reef here is something I could spend a weeks doing. Two steps down the stairs from the main sun deck I was a foot away from a lovely school of Sweetlips, two ornate ghost pipefish, and myriad of other species I wanted to check off my list, that was 30 seconds after sticking my head in water. My housing flooded a couple of days later for reasons out of my control which ultimately prevented me from coming home with the shots I dreamed about taking.

Water is always trying to get in! I spent the rest of my trip shooting with a Nikonos V, not fun when you could have been using a housed SLR. Underwater photography is often about problem solving.
