I've recently compared the unsharp mask, smart sharpening, lab colour sharpening and the high pass filter. The results were not what I expected. I will publish these in NEWS section in the next month or so.
There's been quite a bit of discussion on whether or not an extension ring is required to get the sharpest images from the popular Tokina Lens. I will perform some tests and attempt to get some empirical data to prove whether or not there's any discernable difference.
